L370 Lay Speakers School
Date: March 26-27, 2010 Cost: $75
The foundational course for new lay speakers encourages individuals to recognize and employ personal spiritual gifts for the Church. Participants are invited to consider the importance of spiritual leadership and making disciples. This course is designed for lay speakers, lay leaders, and student pastors who have not completed formal ministerial training, pastors seeking a refresher course, and others who are called upon to speak in a pastor’s absence. The class will include preparation and delivery of a sermon and is divided into a beginning track and advanced track for returning students. Participants will stay over night in Camp Lakeside’s year round facilities. Enrolment includes meals and lodging.

UMW Spiritual Retreat of the Dodge City-Hays Districts held every year in April at Camp Lakeside, is a place one can retreat, be refreshed, renewed, enjoy fellowship and get a whole new perspective on nature and God's imprint on the earth and woman. It is a captivating and revitalizing oasis in a sea of fertile rolling plains.

L374 Mini-School of Christian Mission

“Faith-Hope-Love in Action" All God's people in mission together in the world.” What difference can the church make in the world? Informative classes exploring the missions of the United Methodist church may give you the answer. The two day classes includes, Spiritual Growth: For the love of God, John's Letters, Geographic: The Beauty and Courage of Sudan, Mission and Evangelism: Joy to the World: Mission in the age of global Christianity. CEU available for pastors. Fees for this two day workshop include room and board. An additional fee for materials will be collected at the event. L376 SOS Clergy Retreat Date: October 5-6, 2010 Cost: $50 SOS: Sound of Silence Retreat Format: There will be an opening gathering where we will identify our reasons for attending and briefly get to know one another. We will then engage in silence for most of the balance of the retreat, including meal times and overnight. On Wednesday we gather once again before lunch to discuss our experience. The discussion may continue through lunch until departure. Prepared suggestions for ways to use the time will be available, but the time will be yours to use as you wish. This will be a quiet time of devotion and reflection and does not emphasize instruction or fellowship, but personal spiritual renewal. The participants will be limited to 12 and each participant will have their own room. The only scheduled activities will be the opening and closing sessions and meals.

L390 Comfort Zone Camp
Date: October 15-17, 2010 Cost: $10 per family to be paid at event
Each person’s grief is unique. This Retreat features sessions for adults, teens & children to share their feelings and gain the tools to help them and their family as they walk their grief journey. The goal of the weekend retreat is to educate the participants about the grieving process and provide suggestions for coping skills. Comfort Zone activities are based on helping individuals process their grief, creating conditions that allow the bereaved to mourn through meaningful ceremonies and rituals coupled with celebrations and fun in a beautiful nature setting.

Dates: October 9-10, 2010 Cost: Adults $60 Youth ages 5-10 $30)
Multi Generational camp for ages 5-105. Bring your mom, your granddad, your son, your great-granddaughter or who ever you like to a weekend event for the entire family. Participants will enjoy fishing, nature hikes, fossil hunting, history tours and of course family time around the campfire. Campers will stay in heated/AC cabins or lodge rooms with newly remodeled restrooms and meeting space. Meals, lodging, and programming included.
