L370 Lay Speakers School
Date: March 25-26, 2011 Cost: $70
This course for lay speakers, encourages individuals to recognize and employ personal spiritual gifts for the Church. Participants are invited to consider the importance of spiritual leadership and making disciples. The course is designed for lay speakers, lay leaders, and student pastors who have not completed formal ministerial training, pastors seeking a refresher course, and others who are called upon to speak in a pastor’s absence. The class will include preparation and delivery of a sermon and is divided into a beginning track and advanced track for returning students. Participants will stay over night in Camp Lakeside’s year round facilities. Enrolment includes meals and lodging.

It is a captivating and revitalizing oasis in a sea of fertile rolling plains.

High Plains
Professional Caregivers Retreat Date: April 1-2, 2011 Cost: $65 ($50 sponsoring agency) includes lodging, meals & 7 CEUs Those of us in the caring professions can have the tendency to give to the point of depletion or burnout. We bring our natural tender heartedness into our jobs and in doing so tend to get into patterns of over-giving. This is a time to recharge your mind, body and spirit while receiving continuing education credit. Target audience: Clergy, Hospice staff & volunteers, funeral directors & staff, Long term care staff, Social workers, counselors, anyone who provides support & care to the dying & bereaved. *If you wish to spend Saturday night at Camp Lakeside, you may do so for an additional cost of $41.00 (this will include breakfast on Sunday).

The Birdhouse Project
Date: April 9, 2011 Time: 10 AM to 4PM Cost: $10 per person
Sponsored by St. Catherine Hospice Comfort Zone Family retreat, a special 1 day hands on workshop for families & individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This workshop incorporates project-based learning with healing. This workshop is a place for you to tell your story and memorialize your loved one through the symbolic parts of building a birdhouse and create meaning through a collaboration of the heart, mind and hands. Some people like to incorporate pictures or other items of significance into their birdhouse. If this is what you wish to do bring them with you to Camp Lakeside. Your creativity is your only limitation.

What difference can the church make in the world? Informative classes exploring the missions of the United Methodist church may give you the answer. The two day classes includes, *Spiritual Growth Study: "Forgiveness and Reconciliation" *Geographic Study: "Haiti" *Issue Study: "Joy to the World: Mission in the Age of Global Christianity" CEU available for pastors. L390 Comfort Zone Camp
Date: October 14-16, 2011 Cost: $10 per person to be paid at event
Each person’s grief is unique. This Retreat features sessions for adults, teens & children to share their feelings and gain the tools to help them and their family as they walk their grief journey. The goal of the weekend retreat is to educate the participants about the grieving process and provide suggestions for coping skills. Comfort Zone activities are based on helping individuals process their grief, creating conditions that allow the bereaved to mourn through meaningful ceremonies and rituals coupled with celebrations and fun in a beautiful nature setting.
